Gold Butterfly Black Square Painting No.004

A circle of brushed gold, rough and granular in texture, drifts across a near-black ground with small butterflies scattered along its edge like they've been caught mid-flight. The metallic surface catches light directly, so the piece shifts noticeably depending on the angle you're viewing it from — flatter in daylight, almost luminous under a warm lamp at night.

Good for a room that wants a single point of drama rather than an overall glow — an entryway, a powder room, above a black console or dark credenza. Pairs naturally with brass fixtures, black-framed mirrors, and anything already leaning moody. This is a piece that photographs differently than it lives with, so give it real lighting before judging the effect.
