Gold Butterfly Square Painting No.005

A jagged seam of gold cuts diagonally through a field of raw black and weathered cream, thick enough to look almost geological — more mineral vein than brushstroke. Small black butterflies cluster along the gold, adding movement without softening the overall drama of the piece. Heavy texture throughout means the surface catches light unevenly, in a good way.

This is a piece built to anchor a room on its own — above a fireplace, behind a bed, in an entryway with height to spare. It leans naturally toward interiors already working in black, brass, and warm neutrals, and tends to look best with minimal competition nearby. One strong piece, left alone, does more here than a full gallery wall would.
